Ok, to keep bandwidth down, I cut it up to a couple different pages. There is a link above to all the interior steps, this page has all the rest so far

Assembly is now basically done. To make sure it all comes together well, here it is hit in a single solid grey color. This keeps you from being distracted by the various different materials and you can see what the final result of the scratch building looks like.

Now, it's time to pick a paint scheme and start adding some colors.

Details on the outside of the cab are finished. Some .063 Grandt Line rivets as well as some other details from the vehicle accessory sprue. It's still not glued to the top of the hull, so looks a bit loose here still.
I dug some radio and other various pieces out of my spares box, I believe they are from a DML halftrack kit. Some .030 styrene rods made for wiring conduits.

Everything is pretty much in the final configuration now. I haven't decided for sure on the track guards and tomorrow I start digging at the hobby shop for some good ammo to put in the loading tray.

Well, now that replacement parts have arrived from Games Workshop, I've been able to start working on the crew compartment. There is a lot left to do still, but the shell is finished up. I still need to all the rivets over the reinforcement strips on the external seams and anything else that it needs.
Back angle view. I may or may not be putting some additional plating on the back with a door, but I may also end up leaving the backside open for maximum visibility.
I also started working on the shell loading mechanism. Right now I just have the loading tray finished, but I haven't figured out what else is going to be part of the mechanism. As you can see, I also haven't put any details on the inner walls yet.

Don't get me wrong, I think the basilisk is a cool little kit, but it does have some weakpoints in the look and constrution. One of them is that the rear crew deck just kinda hangs in mid-air. Yeah, GW gave a couple pieces to represent supports, but they are kinda wimpy looking. So I beefed things up a bit to make it look like it can actually hold some weight.
Another thing its missing, that all real world big self propelled guns have on them is a recoil spade. In this case, the parts are already in the box. I just used the bulldozer blade on the vehicle accessory sprue pointing out the back. Didn't take much either, just cleaning off some rivets off the bottom of the hull and glue it on.
